Across the North-West, donor sperm insemination was used in over 1,000 treatment cycles in 2023 (HFEA). Thanks to the generosity of sperm donors, families in and around Manchester are given an incredible gift every year.
How sperm donation helps families in Manchester
By becoming a sperm donor, you play a vital role in helping individuals and couples achieve their dream of starting or growing a family. Your donation can bring hope to people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to have biological children, including those who rely on donor support to make parenthood possible. Through your generosity, you are giving the extraordinary gift of life and helping to create loving families for years to come.
“For my husband and me, our infertility was due to azoospermia. We are now the proud parents of a very much longed-for baby boy.”
By deciding to donate your sperm, you could help grow multiple families, not just across Greater Manchester but across the UK.

The donation process at Semovo’s Manchester Sperm Banks
Once you’ve decided to donate your sperm, you can get started with donation in 3 simple steps.
Application – fill out our application form to register your interest, and our team will be in touch.
Assessment – we’ll need to figure out if becoming a sperm donor is right for you. This step involves an implications call with the team to explain the process and a sperm assessment to check you meet the criteria.
Acceptance – If your sperm is suitable for donation, you’ll speak to our dedicated counsellor and our Semovo doctor. You’ll then have screening tests to ensure you are fit to proceed.
After these steps, you can officially become a Semovo sperm donor. When the donation process begins, you will be expected to donate once a week for about six to twelve months. Although we do understand that this may not be possible if life gets in the way. These donations could take place at either of our Manchester clinics, and each clinic has its own benefits.
