NATIONAL FERTILITY AWARENESS WEEK: SPERM DONORS GIVE FATHERHOOD HOPE

31st October 2017

It’s National Fertility Awareness Week, Fertility Network’s annual campaign that shines the spotlight on fertility issues.

This year one of the main themes is ‘Fertility Fellas’, aimed at getting infertile men the help and support they need and highlighting the fact that male fertility problems are actually just as common as female ones.

Although many sperm problems are successfully treated through fertility treatment – such as low sperm count or poor sperm mobility – in some cases there is no viable sperm to use.

Some men don’t produce any sperm in their sample or have an extremely low sperm count. And although advanced techniques such as surgical retrieval may result in a small amount of sperm, it’s not guaranteed to work.

And that’s when sperm donors step in.

Donor sperm offers the hope of fatherhood to men when fertility treatment using their own sperm can’t help.

As a sperm donor you’re a vital part of the solution to male infertility, helping men to become Dads and creating many happy families.

So it’s not just lesbian couples and single women who need to use donor sperm. Guys do too, it’s just not as widely talked about. National Fertility Awareness Week’s ‘Fertility Fellas’ aims to change all that.

We’re doing our bit at Semovo by making sure our donor sperm is available with no waiting list to all those who need it – but we need your help too.

We always need more men to apply to join our sperm bank. Because only a small handful of men who apply actually have the high quality sperm needed for donation and use in fertility treatment.

If you’d like to help us – and men who need help to become fathers – take a look at the sperm donor criteria, FAQs, how it works and sperm donation blog resource. So you know more about what being a Semovo sperm donor involves.

If you’d like to apply to be a sperm donor, fill in our online form or contact our friendly team on 0345 266 1272.

We have sperm donor clinics in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds with more locations on the way, making it convenient and easy for you to donate sperm when it suits you.
