Sperm Donor Traits: Is There Such a Thing As a ‘Typical’ Sperm Donor?

This information was correct at the time of publishing. It may not reflect our current practices, prices or regulations.

If you go to a sperm bank for help to have a baby, you’re most likely to find brown haired, brown-eyed men, educated in business and accounting.

That’s according to the results of an analysis of sperm donor data by DrEd.com, which examined over 1,000 publically available sperm donor profiles.

So who donates to Semovo? Our range of sperm donors is extremely diverse, and in fact we buck the trend of a ‘typical’ sperm donor.

When considering our donors’ education level and profession, we have a range of college students, undergrads, postgrads and graduates in various occupations who donate sperm to us – from chartered engineers to teachers, nurses, solicitors and psychiatrists.

Our sperm donors are also police officers, paramedics, entrepreneurs and company owners. So not just accountant and business professionals –although we have those as well.

When it comes to ethnic background however, the vast majority of Semovo sperm donors class themselves as White British. So although we do have some Asian, Chinese and Black African Caribbean sperm donors, we do need more.

Many people who need to use a sperm donor will naturally want a donor who shares their ethnicity, and so Semovo sperm donors from ethnic backgrounds are always in high demand.

We’re committed to raising awareness of the need for sperm donors amongst ethnic communities, as infertility affects everyone - regardless of race, ethnicity and beliefs.

We often say you could be the sperm donor someone’s been waiting for, but if you have a specific ethnic background then this is especially true.

To donate to Semovo, you must be aged 18-45 and in good health. In return you’ll receive £45 per clinic visit to compensate you for your time and commitment, and the priceless knowledge of knowing you’ve made a real difference to someone’s life.

Remember we’re here to help – our exceptional care of our sperm donors is why so many men choose to donate to us. So if you have any questions at all, get in touch with our team on 0345 266 1272 or email donate@semovo.co.uk
